August 21 - NINOY AQUINO DAY

Today is the 27th Anniversary of the Death of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. His wife was the late ex-President Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco Aquino. His son Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has just been elected this May, 2010 as the President of the Republic of the Phlippines.

He was the most rabid critic of the deposed Marcos's administration. His widow, Corazon Aquino, now serves as President of the Philippines. Her phenomenal rise to power has been widely written about.
